The World According To Ancient China – Brilliant Maps

The World According To Ancient China

The
map
above
is
a
humorous
look
at
how
the
ancient
Chinese
viewed
the
rest
of
the
world.

Obviously,
you
first
have
the
Chinese
Emperor
at
the
centre,
with
everything
else
radiating
out
from
there.

I
couldn’t
find
any
information
as
to
why
people
living
in
the
north
are
considered

classy
subjects

and
those
in
the
south
a

trashy
subjects
.

Maybe,
People
living
closer
to
the
emperor,
in
the
capital
region
or
immediate
surroundings,
were
perceived
as
more
cultured,
educated,
and
sophisticated.

While
those
living
further
from
the
imperial
centre,
were
considered
less
cultured
or
sophisticated
from
the
emperor’s
point
of
view.

Finally,
you
have
The
outer
labels,

“Northern
Morons,”
“Eastern
Morons,”
“Western
Morons,”
and
“Southern
Morons,”

humorously
represent
how
ancient
societies
(including
Ancient
China)
often
viewed
foreigners
or
those
living
far
away
as
uncivilized
or
inferior
due
to
lack
of
familiarity
and
cultural
bias.
