European Food According to The French – Brilliant Maps

European Food According to The French

The
map
above
looks
at
how
France
and
the
French
view
cuisine
from
the
rest
of
Europe.

It’s
the
work
Yanko
Tsvetkov
and
was
created
in
2015
as
part
of
his

Atlas
of
Prejudice
 map
series.

Titled
the
Culinary
Map
of
Europe
According
to
France,
it’s
a
funny
look
at
how
the
French
look
down
at
the
rest
of
Europe’s
food
choices.

But
before
continuing,
keep
in
mind
this
map
is satire.

Below
is
a
convenient
country‐by‐country
“key”
to
the
satirical
labels
on
Yanko
Tsvetkov’s

Culinary
Map
of
Europe
According
to
France
.

Note
that
some
small
countries
get
lumped
together
under
one
label,
and
the
borders
are
approximate—it’s
all
tongue‐in‐cheek!

  • Portugal

    “RICE”

  • Spain

You’ll
also
see
THE
VAST
ATLANTIC
OCEAN”

labelled
out
west.

And
of
course
the
best
joke
of
all
is
the
that
the
UK
&
Ireland
are
completely
missing
altogether!

It’s
all
playful
stereotyping
from
a
French
point
of
view!
